Melanie and Tom – Wedding

This past weekend, I photographed Melanie and Tom’s wedding.  A few weeks back, we shot their engagement session along the Delaware River.

We started the day out at Melanie’s parents house with all the girls getting ready.  I could tell immediately that this was gonna be a fun packed day.  The girls were all rehearsing their entrance dance to the reception – to the song of “Thriller” !

We moved onto Penn Ryn Mansion for some final prep, and then the ceremony.

Melanie and Tom decided to see each other before the ceremony, and as usual, it was a great choice.  (being able to see each other before the ceremony allows for some private time between them, and also allows much more relaxed and fun portraits!)

The entire group was a blast to work with… laughing, joking and even some dancing!  Somewhere in the middle of the reception, there was even fireworks… literally!

Here’s just a few from the day;)

Laura and Adam – Engagement

Adam has been one of my best friends for a long time (One of my weddings back in June was Adam’s brother Todd) . When he came to me a few weeks back with an idea, I was a tad bit shocked (in a good way), but very happy and excited to be part of it.

Laura is due to have their first baby (girl) in November.  We had talked months ago about doing a really nice maternity session, so it was just about waiting for the right time. – By the way ladies, the 7 month mark is a great time for maternity session!

Adam came to me about a month before the shoot and asked what I thought about turning the maternity session into a proposal at the latter half of the photo shoot.  Of course I thought it was a cool idea!  “YEAH, LET’S DO IT!!!!” are the words I think I used.;)

The day of the session, Adam stopped by my place for a few minutes before hand and trusted me with the gorgeous engagement ring he picked out.  It stayed in my camera bag until we were ready for the next part of the shoot.  We all met up at Tyler State Park in Newtown, PA about an hour and a half before sunset (great golden light!!)  Armed with my new 24mm f/1.4 Canon Lens and my trusty 70-200 f/2.8 IS, I was able to not only stand far enough away for some quiet time, but also get close enough to really capture the emotion between these two.

Here’s a sample – there’s a lot!

Lee Anne and Ken – Wedding

A couple weeks back, I photographed Lee Anne and Ken’s wedding. This day turned out to be SO much fun – It’s also a great day when you walk in and the first thing the bride does is give you a hug hello! Lee Anne, Ken and their family and friends were extra friendly and very open to try some new and fun ideas!  It may have been a long day… Driving from Holland, to near Wayne, NJ for the ceremony, then all the way over to almost Mt. Pocono back in PA… then home! …. but the images were worth it:)

I even got to really use my new lens – a Canon 24mm f/1.4 – it’s a dream of a lens.  More on it in later posts.

Here are a few (just so many to choose from) from the day…  a slideshow of their album is below.  Look for the comments that they wrote about what they thought!

From Lee Anne and Ken . . .
Oh Erik! I cannot describe how amazing I think that the pictures look. You are truly gifted. Ken and I watched the slideshow three times before going to bed.  Now I have woken before sunrise thinking of them again. I can’t thank you enough.
You have received nothing but praise from all the guests and your work is incredible. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
